"Adulthood is a Gift" tour recap!

The Scribbles Newsletter

Hello my friends!

Well, I finally wrapped up the book tour for Adulthood is a Gift a few days ago, and I thought I would share with you a little tour diary! I officially kicked things off with a reading, signing, and chat at Powell’s with the incomparable Reza Farazmand. One thing I’ll never get over is how Powell’s announces its’ guests on its storefront, I mean how cool is this:

I can’t look before the event or I get too nervous, haha.

Next, it was off to Mexico City for a collaboration with GAMA Galería/Cartoon Madness for a “Trick or Toon” 3-day event where a bunch of cartoonists got together to create a haunted house themed comics market. It was here I gave my first ever workshop on drawing monsters, and I had the privilege of designing the spooky artwork for the event which you can see tons of in this little video:

Then it was off to my first ever LightBox Expo, where I had my own mural! In comparison to other tours, there was a lot of unique artwork made for these events, something I think made it feel really special to me.

After 3 days at Lightbox, I closed out California with a signing + chat at Vroman’s with the amazing Hannah Hillam, and then it was back to Mexico for one more collaboration with Cartoon Madness for night of signing.

With cartoonist Raúl Pardo!

Thank you sincerely to everyone who came, especially to the workshops and talks, I had an amazing time. I do have one more event before the tour officially finishes, and that’s Vienna Comic Con in late November.

You all know that “Sarah’s Scribbles” is often a spooky themed comic, so to be able to do this tour and have it feel like one big Halloween celebration was really a blast. I love you guys so much!
