The Scribbles Newsletter

When I started publishing “Sarah’s Scribbles”, I knew I wanted to do at least five books. Now having reached the fifth at last, I feel some bittersweetness. “Sarah’s Scribbles” has existed for over a decade now, starting when I was just 19 years old. I’ve grown and changed a lot since then, and this book gave me a chance to really talk about exactly that.

This is the first ever Scribbles post! I talk about this comic and the many ways the series has changed since then in one of the essays.

It’s crazy to think about, when in many ways I still feel like that confused 19 year old. But then I remember that I can actually cook a meal for myself and that I live in a clean and functional apartment, and I realize I’ve really come a long way.

As with the other “Sarah’s Scribbles” books, “Adulthood is a Gift” features 20 new comics and collects the best of the best of the comics that have appeared online. But in this edition, I wrote 15 essays looking back at over a decade of writing this series and what that means to me. I take you through my ups and downs, how I draw the comics, what inspires the punchlines, things I regret, things I am proud of…there really was so much to say!

The final essay in the book is my favorite, and it’s a message to you, my reader. But you’ll have to pick up the book to figure out what it says!

“Adulthood is a Gift” is out October 1st.
